Wednesday Feb 26, 2020
Wednesday Feb 26, 2020
The whole Smart Girl Tribe team was really heartbroken upon hearing about Caroline Flack’s death, and thinking of all those taking their own lives who aren’t famous and who aren’t known, the stories we don’t know about which is why I have given some friends of mine a call who are experts in the mental health field to share tips, tricks and advice. In this episode we break anxiety down with Vikki Louise, we talk about anxiety triggers, we dive into neuroscience ; the primitive brain versus the prefrontal cortex, what happens when we have a panic attack, and tools you can implement today and right now to help your anxiety. We also discuss the relationship between social media and mental health issues, what the process looks like in becoming a mental health expert and all the brainy things we just aren’t taught in schools. This episode does contain strong language and if you are struggling please talk or reach out to a friend, family member, counsellor or therapist.

I was kindly sent her book and knew that she had to share her story with you. In this podcast episode Hope talks about the sexual abuse she endured in the church which led to her eating disorder, what it’s really like to have an eating disorder, what to do if you or your friend suffers from an eating disorder and how to launch an international campaign and become a motivational speaker. If you or someone you know suffers from an eating disorder then you may find this episode upsetting or triggering.

Wednesday Jan 15, 2020
Hello tribers. I am really looking forward to you all listening to today’s episode with Alison Baskerville, Alison is a conflict photographer, a former solider and artist. As influencers are on the rise, celebrity x factor exists and it seems everyone knows who the Kardashians, it was so refreshing to talk with Alison, not only about her work but being a female soldier and being told that that wasn’t a career choice from women. We talk about being a conflict photographer, what feminism means, life after her exhibition went viral and when her world was turned upside down, the relationship between social media and photography and of course, the role war plays in society. This is such a hard hitting, provocative episode, we have never released anything like this which is why I'm so thrilled to do so today.
